Inpatient Treatment / Detox

Martha’s Vineyard Detox Treatment Referral Program
Detox is often the first step in the continuum of care for addiction treatment and can be a critical step on the road to recovery for people with substance use disorder. The goal of a detox program is to get you stable, sober, and ready to enter addiction treatment.


Through the Martha's Vineyard Detox Treatment Referral Program, Vineyard residents are given immediate access to off-Island detox services facilities (Gosnold or AdCare) that do not exist on the Island.


The agreement with these off-Island detox facilities also provides an option to receive services from a Recovery Coach, who will guide the patient and loved ones through the process, accompany the patient on the boat, and make sure he or she gets to and from the detox facility safety. The Recovery Coach will work with counselors at the center to lay out the next steps for when the patient returns to the Island.

  • What is Naltrexone/Vivitrol®?

    Naltrexone is a medication used in MAT to treat both opioid and alcohol use disorders. It comes in a pill form or as an injectable. The pill form of naltrexone can be taken once per day. The injectable extended-release form of the drug (Vivitrol) is administered intramuscular once a month. When taken as prescribed, naltrexone is safe and effective.

  • What is Suboxone®?

     

    Suboxone is used in MAT help people reduce or quit their use of heroin or other opiates, such as pain relievers like morphine. Approved for clinical use in October 2002 by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), buprenorphine represents the latest advance in MAT. When taken as prescribed, buprenorphine is safe and effective.

A Recovery Coach guides and supports individuals in recovery. The goal of a Recovery Coach is to be actively involved in helping individuals explore their relationship with substances and establish a foundation of living life without the need for substances.

SOBER LIVING

Vineyard House

A sober living residence that provides housing for Island men and women in need of a safe living environment while they are in the early stages of recovery. The campus in Vineyard Haven can accommodate up to 18 men and seven women. Residents pay rent to live in a supportive environment and are expected to work, attend 12-step meetings, and contribute in other ways to the community.
